Day 12 of Diverse Shopping: For the Social Justice Warrior

The holiday season is upon us and so is the rush for deals and thrills. Consumer dollars can speak volumes to corporations about what we support and value. Consider using your dollars to support BIPOC owned businesses and creatives while also getting something thoughtful, beautiful, and meaningful for the loved ones on your list!

Curated by Regional MAR Directors, here are a few of our favorite things!

As a nice little bonus, the writer of the blog (who is paid an affiliate commission when you use these links to purchase items on Amazon) has agreed to donate the commission to Moms Against Racism at no additional cost to you. Win for you, Win for the BIPOC owned business, Win for MAR!

  • We must recommend MAR Products of course, whether you’re getting a t-shirt for your gal pal; donating a gift basket to your friend’s alma-mater or their child’s school; or giving a straight donation in her name acknowledging the causes that fuel the warrior spirit and joining them in their cause, in my opinion, is a great gift -- particularly for the person who has everything or for the person whose heart sings to be able to help others.

    • Buy them Books to fuel their warrior spirits! All the books!

    • Get your friend some Mommy and Me Apparel from Piccolina Kids. Or, just the adult size. No one needs to know! (on Amazon)

    • Support refugees with items from Threads by Nomad - the fold over clutch and holiday décor are especially adorable!

    • For many Social Justice Warriors, acts of service and quality time are the love language that speaks loudest. Combine the two by setting up a day of service with your friend at your local food bank or refugee center and get involved in the cause they’re most passionate about.

    • As one of our MAR directors has pointed out, most social justice warriors spend a lot of time helping others and often neglect themselves. So, treat your friend to a day of indulgent self-care with a spa certificate or a pedicure, or give them a little rest and relaxation to have at home. Check our list of ideas for Self-Care for more ideas.

Moms Against Racism has members across North America. Find out more about how you can start or join a local chapter.
