Much of my adult life has been spent working with and advocating for marginalized people. As a teacher, I’ve witnessed the challenges facing foster children, immigrants, and those living near the poverty line - many of whom are racial minorities - and the mothering heart within me has been broken, enraged ...tired.
The language surrounding racism has been changing and the demands for equality have been muffled, but I’m hopeful that by joining together and supporting each other in speaking out and demanding meaningful change, even when someone’s voice may falter, there will be enough sound that we can finally be heard.
